The Old Hidden Vale mountain bike tracks are some of the best and are rated on a scale of difficulty reflecting the level of risk.

The Cyclocross Races are conducted on single track and farm double track on the Old Hidden Vale stockyards.

This scale is on a rating of one to five; one being the least difficult and five representing the most difficult. See the examples below:

		1. Easiest: White Circle Trail Width: 185cm or more Tread surface: Hardened or surfaced Average Trail Grade: Less than 5% Maximum Trail Grade: Max 10% Natural Obstacles and Technical Trail Features (TTF): None Brief Description: Fire roads with gentle slopes. Requires basic fitness.
		2. Easy: Green Circle Trail Width: 90cm or more Tread surface: Firm and stable Average Trail Grade: 5% or less Maximum Trail Grade: Max 15% Natural Obstacles and Technical Trail Features (TTF): Unavoidable obstacles 5cm tall or less. Avoidable obstacles may be present. Unavoidable bridges 90cm or wider Brief Description:Fire roads and single track with gentle slopes, creek crossings and easy obstacles. Requires experience and some fitness.
		3. Intermediate: Blue Square Trail Width: 60cm or more Tread surface: Mostly stable with some variability Average Trail Grade: 10% or less Maximum Trail Grade: 15% or greater Natural Obstacles and Technical Trail Features (TTF): Unavoidable obstacles 20cm tall or less. Avoidable obstacles may be present. Unavoidable bridges 60cm or wider. TTF’s 5cm high or less, width of deck is greater than 1⁄2 the height Brief Description:Fire roads and single track with gentle slopes, creek crossings and easy obstacles and rollable drops. Requires experience and average fitness.
		4. Very Difficult: Red Diamond Trail Width: 30cm or more Tread surface: Widely variable Average Trail Grade: 15% or less Maximum Trail Grade: 15% or greater Natural Obstacles and Technical Trail Features (TTF): Unavoidable obstacles 40cm tall or less. Avoidable obstacles may be present. May include loose rocks. Unavoidable bridges 30cm or wider. TTF’s 10cm high or less, width of deck is less than half the height. Short sections may exceed criteria Brief Description: Mountain bike parks with fire roads and single track with long climbs, creek or river crossings and difficult obstacles, drop offs and sharp corners. Requires experience and high level of fitness.
		5. Extremely Difficult: Double Black Diamond. Trail Width: 15cm or more Tread Surface: Widely variable and unpredictable Average Trail Grade: 20% or more Maximum Trail Grade: Max 15% or greater Natural Obstacles and Technical Trail Features (TTF): Unavoidable obstacles 38cm tall or greater. Avoidable obstacles may be present. May include loose rocks. Unavoidable bridges 61cm or narrower. TTF's 10cm high or greater, width of deck is unpredictable Many sections may exceed criteria.
